About Me
Naturally curious. Fueled by knowing more.
I enjoy simply learning what I am passionate about. I love to know more, whether that being aerospace concepts, artistic techniques, skateboard tricks, piano songs, or even simply how a washing machine works.
My background
I grew up in a multi-generational household consisting of my brother, parents, and grandmother. With so many available perspectives and opinions, I was able to gain insights and wisdom beyond my years.
Unlike many of my peers, school did not come naturally to me, especially in STEM courses. The letter grade of "A" was frequently hard to come by in math, even with my sincere attention to it as my study of interest. My academic spark ignited my sophomore year of high school.
During sophomore year, my contemplations of the world around me frequently caused mental disruption and distress. To combat this, I decided to keep my mind as busy as possible. I found myself in the library for hours nearly every night, studying and tutoring my peers. In my spare time -when neither of those options were available- I decided to learn whatever I could. I took in anything and everything that I could find, learning the basics of flight and astrophysics in the process. I am truly grateful for that harsh period in my life, for I found what I am truly passionate about in school: science and art.
Where I wish to go
I plan to focus on STEM-focused studies at a college that incentivizes collaboration and creativity. I
In my long-term plan, I am planning on focusing my career(s) on the engineering and physical elements of flight and astronomy. I wish ti be able to use my education and knowledge to make commercial air travel safer and smoother for their passengers and pilots. In addition to that, I want to use my gained education to reduce carbon emissions into the Earth's atmosphere caused by the burning of fossil fuels. With my potentially future education in chemistry, I plan to influence the chemical makeup of fuels used by cars and planes so that, when burned, they are less detrimental to the environment.
Values
What drives me
The Collaboration of Math & Art
I have found through my works that math plays an undefined role in artworks. There are elements of how pieces are sectioned/fractioned up to be the most visually appealing, how certain geometrical shapes and methods are represented in artworks, and that math is the foundation of the biological and technological world around us.
Working With My Hands
As a young kid, I would disassemble and reassemble DVD players and such just to see how they worked. I like to use my hands and get dirty, which is why I have worked at Speedee Oil Change my past two Summers.
Valuing My Mental State
In going through a extended rough period of my life, I have realized the value of my own mental health. I always wish to help others as much as possible, but I am not effective in doing that unless my own mental health is attended to.
Running Towards My Fears
I have two large fears: heights and flying. To combat those, I decided to run head on towards them. To do that, I joined my school's Climbing Program and Aviation Program to learn about my fears and experience them in constructive enviornments.
Interests
Outside the classroom
Stained glass
My senior capstone & multiple artworks in AP art classes — Designing, cutting, sanding, soldering, and placing all by myself.
Drawing & mixed media
I have kept on this hobby since middle school. Art is how I express what I truly feel when words can't fully describe it.
Reading
When time permits, I enjoy reading books where authors express themselves. My personal favorite author is Walt Whitman.
Climbing
To help face my fear of heights, I joined my school's climbing team in 2023. Since then, I am just as much afraid of the ground, but much better at not falling off the rock!
Time in nature
My favorite activity by far. I deeply enjoy hiking, biking, or simply sitting and observing what is around me in nature.
